Figured I'd update here, now that it's been almost a week. No blue screens since updating the Paragon driver and the sound drivers. Sound drivers have still been randomly corrupting themselves, but it seems to be a separate issue. Still no word back from Paragon (big surprise there..) on how to disentangle their remaining binaries on my system.

Thanks for the help Carl! I'll return eventually, either to post an update or another all clear.

Got an update from Paragon! They included instructions for removing the pesky mounthlp.sys driver. (remember my system is win7 x64). So just in case some wayward wanderer ends up here via Google, here's how to disable/remove it:
Delete "mounthlp" from the list in this key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{71A27CDD-812A-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F}\UpperFilters

    go to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\mounthlp\
and change the value for the "start" key from "0" to "4"

    Reboot.

This worked for me, which is a big relief (although it seems that scrounging the updated driver fixed the problem, I just didn't like the idea of having this driver there when the software had been removed).

No BSOD for a few weeks and counting!
