BSOD On New Windows 7

I recently installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. I used to have Vista 64bit without any major problems, but because of all sorts of junk on the system partition, i bought a retail Windows 7 upgrade for 3 pc's. But instead of upgrading, i formatted the hard drive and installed a fresh version og Windows 7. I just haven't activated it yet, will do it as soon as i figure out how.

Now, to the problem. BSOD only 1 day after the fresh install, at irregular basis.
Hardware all the same as with Vista 64bit, and updated the nvidia driver nothing else.
Hope you can help me with this.

Hi, Tony, and welcome to the forum. Sorry you are having trouble. I hope we will be able to find the cause. I looked at your four most recent dumps. Three of them are bugcheck A, IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, usually caused by Kernel mode driver, System Service, BIOS, Windows, Virus scanner, Backup tool, compatibility. The fourth is bugcheck 3B, System Service Exception, usual causes are System service, Device driver, graphics driver, ?memory. All of the dumps blame Windows system files which are very unlikely to be the real cause. Since the dumps do not give us the real causes, you will have to troubleshoot using the process of elimination.

1. To begin this process, I recommend that you download and install Microsoft Security Essentials for your antivirus and anti malware. MSE supersedes Windows Defender, offers superior protection, and runs very nicely with Win 7. MSE will automatically disable Defender.

2. Outdated drivers can cause conflicts and BSOD's. I find two drivers loaded on your system that should be updated. Update them through the links provided. Both of these drivers have the potential to cause the problem you are having.

yk62x64.sys Mon Feb 23 10:02:27 2009 - Marvell Yukon networking. Marvell: Support.
3. After you update these two drivers, reboot and see if your system is more stable. Post back and let us know. If you get another BSOD, upload it and enable Driver Verifier carefully following the instructions in this tutorial: Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable. Keep in mind that if Driver Verifier encounters a faulty driver, it will trigger a BSOD. Upload any and all Driver Verifier enabled dumps.

Thank you for the fast reply.

In frustration last night, i've decided to reformat the hdd once more and reinstalled Vista 64bit. Works fine now.

So i'll switch to Windows 7, when i purchase a new pc.

Thank you very much

You are welcome, Tony. I suspect the two drivers I listed were part of the problem, if not the problem. Win 7 is pretty finicky about older drivers - especially LAN and wireless adapter drivers.
