Trying to bring my Toshiba laptop back from the dead

For several days I have been trying to repair issues w/ my Toshiba laptop, that just started happening suddenly. With lots of reading from Win SevenForums, I've been able to bring the computer back from only booting into safe mode. Now with normal boot it takes up to 20 min. to fully boot. Then once everything starts, a click of any function can take 8 to 10 min. All things eventually seem to work.

I would appreciate help. Please let me know what things are needed to evaluate what is wrong. Please be specific to what is needed and how I would perform the procedure, enabling me to attach it back here for review.

    Thanks, Tomween1

The extended startup time can be caused by a failing hard drive, so try this:

I suggest starting all troubleshooting with the following diagnostic tests. They'll save you a lot of time and heartache if there is a hardware failure, and you'll have the disks on hand in case you need them in the future:
    H/W Diagnostics:
Please start by running these bootable hardware diagnostics:
Memory Diagnostics (read the details at the link)
HD Diagnostic (read the details at the link)

Also, please run one of these free, independent online malware scans to ensure that your current protection hasn't been compromised: Free Online AntiMalware Scanners (read the details at the link)
