how did you test your PSU ?

Is the ram your using on the asus compatibility list ?
I hooked it up to a PSU tester.

No. It's not. But I searched the net and saw that people who had my motherboard and purchased it said it worked fine.

where they using the same CPU and motherboard combo as the memory controller is on your chip ?

did you test your PSU under load as switch-mode power supplies can drop under load and as the windings break down ?

Don't know. All I know is that they were using the same motherboard and same memory.

No. I pulled the PSU out and hooked it up to a tester. How do I test it while it's under load?

Ok. So with the memory in slots A1 and B1 with the speeds set to stock it made through the 1st pass on memtest with no errors. I was getting errors before when I had the speeds set to 800Mhz and the voltage set to 1.65 and the memory in slots A1 and A2

to test the PSU under load you loop out of the +12v and +5v rails respectively and monitor the voltages plugging and unplugging USB devices and placing the cpu under load ?
This should only be attempted by a competent electrician as you can trash your board if you make a mistake

heres a link to another & safer method using resistors to test a PSU

you can of course monitor your voltages with software but its not guaranteed to be accurate ?

Reading through this thread it does sound like you have a very fussy \ unstable or possibly bad motherboard ?

N.B. the reason memory testing isn't wholly accurate is because it only detects particularly bad ram producing a lot of errors, to quote since windows 95 Microsoft have stated about memory testing programs
Quote:
Defective memory chips may not be detected by memory checking tools. Some memory checking programs are not adequate tests because they do not test RAM in the same way that Windows uses RAM. Most memory checkers use read/write cycles when scanning memory. Since Windows is executing code from memory, it uses execute cycles. Execute cycles are different from read/write cycles and are more vulnerable to parity errors. It is possible for memory checking programs to find parity errors if the memory is extremely faulty.

I'm hoping it's a fussy mobo because from what I've read there are lots of people who have/had issues with this motherboard with memory configurations being the root cause.

So with the sticks in DIMM slots A1 and B1, CPUZ is not showing the memory as dual channel. WHen I put them in B1&B2 they come up as dual channel. I am going to run mem tests all night and see if any errors pop up

I don't know, codes flying all over the map and never the same. First mem, should be in slots recommended for dual and running at stock. Don't raise the stakes when your battling a BSOD situation.

Memory issue and ATA issue. Are you running bare bones?

Minimum hard drive. Remove CD drives. If that still fails. Put a vid card if you haven't already done so.

I don't want to speak too soon but I believe I can marked this thread solved. After installing the two new sticks of memory in both the blue slots of the mother board and having the BIOS at stock, I have not encountered any BSOD. I ran memtest for 15 passes and it had 1 error but i think it was a false error. I also ran prime95 blend test for 6+ hours with no errors. I've been able to shut down the computer over night and turn it back on with no issues. I've also been able to quickly resume from hibernation where before it wouldn't work.

I appreciate everyone's help in getting this issue solved and I've learned a lot from this experience.

@DeanP Should I still update that driver if I'm not having any issues?
