hey, i just bsod'd again, but this time it was wierd. i was watching an episode of scrubs on my laptop and practicing juggling because my friend... well, long story short, one of the balls came down and hit the laptop on the corner and it got a bsod... does that mean anything?

Rename HP8207_8307.sys to HP8207_8307.BAK. Reboot and the driver will not load.
Disable your mouse and use a different mouse or the trackpad for a while and see if the BSOD still appears..

SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000007e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.
Arguments:
Arg1: ffffffff80000003, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: fffff80002ece470, The address that the exception occurred at
Arg3: fffff88002feec78, Exception Record Address
Arg4: fffff88002fee4d0, Context Record Address

A ball hitting the laptop will not trigger a software issue, unless it somehow opens the browser, keys in a malicious website, and installs a virus for you. Not likely.

We are looking at hardware issues here, most likely the hard drive. Please run SeaTools; both the Short and Long DSTs.

Also run Memtest86: RAM - Test with Memtest86+

I see hpdskflt.sys loaded in RAM, which is described as the "HP Mobile Data Protection System Disk Filter". In other words, an accelerometer driver (correct me if I'm wrong). A significant hit with a ball might trigger the accelerometer, and possible problems with it may cause a BSOD instead of shutting down the hard drive cleanly.

I hesitate to see the driver removed, simply because it's there for a good purpose. If the hardware tests come back clean, try simply renaming the hpdskflt.sys file found in C:\Windows\System32\drivers to hpdskflt.sys.old. See if that helps. If you get more BSODs after that, go back to C:\Windows\System32\drivers, and remove the .old extension on the end.

Make sure SP1 is installed; I see it was installed earlier but later dumps do not show that.

thank you, ill give it a shot! I think it really might be a hardware problem though, because a few days before i posted this thread, I got a BSOD the moment i picked up the laptop... I thought it was just coincidence
