BSOD during games.
I built my first gaming PC back in December, and up until now, it's run flawlessly. But recently, after playing certain games for around 30 minutes or an hour, I ALWAYS get a BSOD.
Oddly enough, it seems to happen when playing almost any game. Fallout New Vegas runs longer than most games before the BSOD, but minecraft and Civ V both consistently crash my system after less than an hour.
Any no, my PC isn't overheating. Here are my specs.
CPU:AMD Phenom II x4 965 (under a hyper 212+ overclocked to a very stable 3.8ghz)
GPU:Gigabyte Radeon HD6850
Motherboard:ASUS M4A79XTD EVO
PSU: Corsair TX750 (with 750W, that shouldn't be the problem)
RAM: 2x2gb AData DDR3 1600
Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 1TB
OS: Windows 7 HP x64 (OEM version)
And an ATI TV Wonder 650 video capture card
I've tested for system stability before, but I tried it again, running prime95 on 3 threads and running furmark at the same time. No overheating or BSODs for the 45 minutes I ran it so far. I'll try each one longer and try running memtest, but my hardware seems fine to me.
Max CPU temp: 45C
Max GPU temp: 65C
But on a side note, I recently upgraded Windows 7 to SP1, and recently updated my AMD drivers and catalyst control center to the most recent version. I suspect that Windows 7 SP1 and the new AMD drivers don't really like each other... especially since minecraft always crashes, even though the game isn't really taxing my system that much. Anyway, here's the crash info.
