BCCode 101 BSOD

Howdy--just got my new PC and it is BSOD every 1-30 minutes... (sometimes BSOD--sometimes just freezes the screen and need to reboot) I can gaurentee it to happen if I go to facebook and play zynga poker--but it will happen randomly otherwise.

The problem signature follows:
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3
Locale ID: 1033

Additional information about the problem:
BCCode: 101
BCP1: 0000000000000021
BCP2: 0000000000000000
BCP3: FFFFF880009E7180
BCP4: 0000000000000001
OS Version: 6_1_7601
Service Pack: 1_0
Product: 768_1

Took cyberpowerpc over 3 weeks to get it to me and now they want me to send it back for a month round trip. If Anyone can help me fix it you would save me $250 in return postage/restocking fees and keep me from buying a wimpy HP replacement (albeit it a likely working replacement).

I've just scanned and updated any out of date drivers (6 on a brand new pc--is that normal?)

I've read a bunch about this error and possibly needing to flash the bios--never done that before--would it help?

Thanks for any help,

Tom

Wow--DeanP--thanks for the info and near instant reply!

Ok--now to display my ignorance...

By remove display drivers--Do you mean from my program manager uninstall the following (the only 2 ATI programs)?

ATI Stream SDK V2 Developer
ATI Catalyst Install manager

After removing, I then reboot in safemode with networking and run driversweeper (as per their instructions)--then install the drivers you linked to? (BTW, driversweeper lists vista 64 bit as 'fully tested' but did not list windows 7 64 bit)

And as far as software from gigabyte, I have 3 programs where gigabyte is listed under publisher:

Easysaver B9.1214.1
Gigabyte Raid Configurer
ON_OFF Charge B10.0427.1

Do I not require any of these--delete from the program manager?
Oh--no overclocking here...

Again--sorry for the basic questions but I'd like to not screw it up...

Thx,

Tom

REMEMBER TO DO THIS IN SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING!
Uninstall the Display Drivers in Display Adapters (from Device Manager) and uninstall the Catalyst Control Center from Add/Remove Program Utility. Run Driver Sweeper to sweep the graphic driver left overs. Then install the new drivers from the file you downloaded from the ATI Site.

Uninstall EasySaver and leave the other two alone for now - and then read the STOP 0x101 thread.

Ok-so I went through the steps above and still freezing up regularly...

I've read the STOP 0x101: CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT troubleshtg thread--that was where my original question about a possible bios problem came from (assuming I did not get a garbage chip). I like the clear explanation of why the problem is unlikely the actual programs running during the failure. Any good ideas where to go next? Memory test like in the above post? bios flash/update? Any other drivers likely offenders?

Thx again,

Tom

Well--I'd love to see how Prime95 (64 bit) is supposed to run but I keep freezing up a minute or so into it... I guess that is an answer in itself--I could not find any output file.

Any other efforts I should try before going with my return option?

Thanks,

Tom

Did you run all 3 Prime95 Tests? (Blend, Small FFTs and Large FFTs).
Prime95 is a CPU stress test and tells if the CPU is in fault or not.

I ran the default setting (Blend) twice and one of the other ones (don't remember--picked it at random) before I became discouraged with freezing up rebooting immediately after starting the tests...

I appreciate your help on this matter--all of the suggestions and info--walking me through the steps etc., but I'm throwing in the towel. I need to return the system in the next 7 days or am stuck with it. At this point it will only cost me the $100 shipping there and back (after reading the warrenty I see there is no restocking fee in the first 30 days) so I'm sending it in with a few days buffer to ensure I make the deadline.

Any advice on your favorite CPU before I try another? Is the intel recall issue fixed in the current i5/i7 systems on the market?

Thanks again for all the help,

Tom
