    BSOD every day...

    Hey Guys,

I have a Dell XPS 420 that currently runs Vista, I dont know if that would make a difference. I've been having problems for a couple of months with the BSOD, so I investigated, and from what most techies say, it usually is a driver problem. I obtained Slimdriver online to help me find the missing drivers (it appeared that I had approximately 6 missing) and I also went to the Nvidia website for my graphics card. When prior to this I would receive frequent BSOD's with different causes, I now receive a BSOD with no detail at all. I've tried a few things like reducing the power, registry cleaners, etc. but nothing I'm doing seems to work.

    Hello and welcome,
Uninstall the Registry Cleaner and SlimDriver Please. They both cause nothing but problems.
It would been better if you did it in Vista Forums as this is for Windows 7 Support, not Vista - and I'm not used to doing debug Vista Dump Files.

I am not sure what to do... - might grab someone else. But again, I would do this in Vista Forums as you are using Vista, not Win Seven.

    Code:

    KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000008e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
    happening.
    Arguments:
Arg1: c0000005, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: 828486d5, The address that the exception occurred at
    Arg3: cc186c64, Trap Frame
    Arg4: 00000000

It's okay, we can work on Vista BSODs here too; analysis is the same.

I am suspicious of your ethernet adapter drivers:
    Code:
    e1e6032.sys Fri Dec 05 01:51:42 2008 (4938CF7E)
All three crashes occurred while iexplore.exe was on top.

I suggest you install this updated ethernet driver: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...=2775&lang=eng

If that doesn't help, run driver verifier, as Dean suggested.

    ...Summary of the dumps:

Well thanks for reporting back! Glad to hear the BSODs have stopped.

This thread will be marked as solved, but feel free to create a new thread if need be, or post back here if the BSODs return.
