Baffled on BSOD

Hello All,

I think I've followed posting instructions. Here is some background on this system in question:

Custom Built
  • ASUS M4A785-M Motherboard
  • AMD Phenom II x4 955 Black Edition AM3 CPU - 3.2GH with OEM cooling fan and heatsink that came with the CPU
  • Crucial Ballistix PC6400 DDR2 800MHz (4 x 2048) RAM (8GB total)
  • HDD - WD Caviar 500GB Serial ATA HD 7200/32MB/SATA-3G
  • Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus 500-watt power Supply
  • Lite ON 24X DVDRW SATA OEM
  • Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
I received a BSOD with STOP Error message of 0x0000007E. I have attached the Minidmp files. I've been struggling with this one for a while. It appears to be a RAM issue but I've ran Ultra X diagnostics firmware (Quicktech Premium) on the PC with all hardware tests passing.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

BC

SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000007e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.
Arguments:
Arg1: ffffffffc0000005, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: fffff80002ad5597, The address that the exception occurred at

Windows 7 64 bit

Hi Dean,

Thanks for replying. I have activated the driver verifier, as well as installed all Windows 7 Updates. I have attempted to install the Windows 7 SP1 update, but it has failed on two occasions. My understanding of Win7 SP1 was that it is an accumulation of all the previous critical and security updates, and that if you have already installed these, there is no reason to install SP1. I am, however, attempting a 3rd install of SP1 to ensure nothing was missed.

I will reply again if/when I have additional information. Thanks again.

Updated DMP files with Verifier enabled

Hi Dean,

After enabling the Verifier in Win 7, and working the PC to several BSOD reboots, the results in the DMP files are all over the place. Nothing seems consistent. I'm using BluescreenView to view the DMP files.

Also, Service Pack 1 will NOT install on this PC after numerous attempts. However, all other updates are installed.

I have attached a zip archive with the .dmp files enclosed.

Thanks
