Windows 7: BSOD

BSOD

Hello people, I have a problem and hope you can help.

My computer keeps getting blue screens. They happen when i play games, rarely when I watch movies.

It seems that the type of game matters. For instance playing Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is allways connected with a blue screen, however playing World of Warcraft is not. With some other games I have no issues at all.
My system specs are
Operating System: Windows 7 Professional 32-bit SP1
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6400+ (2 CPUs), ~3.2GHz
Memory: 2048MB RAM
Gfx card: ATI Radeon HD 5850
More details about my system can be found in this DxDiag.txt-file: DxDiag.txt - Windows Live

dmp-files of most rescent bluescreens can be found here: Dumpfiles - Windows Live

Some stop codes are 0x00000001 (dxgkrnl.sys), 0x00000050 (atikmdag.sys), 0x000000BE (NTFS.sys), 0x000000C2 (no *.sys specified)
More info on what I have tried so far and other info:
  • bought new RAM and Gfx card, the problem persisted
  • reinstalled drivers of my ATI gfx card (used Driver Cleaner Pro to remove all (possibly) corrupt files first)
  • have run chkdsk and windows memory diagnostic: no errors
  • temperatures do not exceed 70C
  • have run some gfx card stress tests (FurMark and others), none of which give me a blue screens
What I intend to do right now: Change the clock speed settings of my ram to see if that has any influence.

I appreciate any help you can give me and thank you for your time

Hello and welcome to the forum,
Update your 2004 ASACPI.sys,
Code:
ASACPI.sys Fri Aug 13 14:52:52 2004
information   Information
The 2004 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.
Please visit this link: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P7P55D LE
Scroll down to the Utilities category, then scroll down to the "
ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Windows 7 32&64-bit" (it's about the 12th item down).
Download and install it.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers to check and make sure that the ASACPI.sys file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (NOT 2004).
Please remove any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%. They use a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done: DuplexSecure - Downloads

Hi DeanP, thank you for your fast reply!

I linked a DxDiag.txt file, I assume it contains all info you need?

So I followed the steps you mentioned. I now have a ASACPI.sys file from 2009 in my windows/drivers/-directory, also uninstalled Deamon Tools and SPTD. There is no sptd.sys-file to be found on my PC, so I guess thats a good thing

After deinstalling SPTD my system seemed slower then usual. I got a message from Microsoft's Aero, telling me my system seemed slow and appearently had problems with Aero. A message I have not seen before.

Playing Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (BF:BC2), yet again resultet in a BSOD (dump_ - Windows Live), however before that BSOD appeared I had multiple games where BF:BC2 simply closed itself.

Can you make anything of this?

Hi again,
Please uninstall nVidia System Utility
Code:
nvoclock.sys Tue Aug 19 03:59:59 2008
If you are overclocking anything (GPU, RAM, CPU) - stop and return to default values.

Run Driver Verifier if problem persists: Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Hi DeanP, thx for your answer.

so now nVidia System Tools is deinstalled, along with anything but nForce drivers. Though I had to manually remove the nvoclock.sys file (Uninstaller nor Driver Cleaner removed it). And I am not overclocking anything atm.

Playing then resulted in this BSOD and dump file: dump_x - Windows Live

I then followed the tutorial on Driver Verifier and marked all drivers not from Microsoft.

After restarting my system I went back to playing a game to force a BSOD to appear, which resulted in: dump__ - Windows Live
