BSOD on a new system, ran out of idea's

    Hello all,

Since 5 day's I'm the happy (at least till 4 hours ago) owner of a new Gaming computer. This morning there were no indications for problems, however after returning from work, I booted my computer again and after 5-10 min of browsing I experienced my first BSOD!

Since then I've been following all kind of hints from various sites, and then came upon this forum, with some good help on it! So I'll post my problem here. I think it is a graphic's card error, yet not 100% if that's the only cause for the BSOD. I get the BSOD after a few min of browsing in normal windows mode (I'm now in safe mode + network) or after playing less than a 1 min at any computer game (e.g. Total War: Napoleon).

As it is a fresh computer, little was installed except FF, some games, AV, deamon tools (but deleted that prog as I read at this topic (https://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...7-sp1-x64.html) that it might cause BSODs in Win7, but also after de-installing this, I still get BSOD). Yet nothing was installed today, not even a windows update since this morning.

What did I do more: Update flash player (at my first log I saw flash being mentioned in the error log) and un-istalled all ATI drivers + CCC, did a full driver sweeper and reinstalled the latest version for my graph card, however without a resolve .

I'm running a bit desperate, will contact the manufacture tomorrow, but perhaps you guy's can help me out before! :)

Is Windows 7 . . . - x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? x64 - the original installed OS on the system? yes - an OEM or full retail version? OEM - OEM = came pre-installed on system - Full Retail = you purchased it from retailer - What is the age of system (hardware)? Less than a week - What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) not re-installed, less than a week old in total.

Bug checks all point to the ati driver, but they are all also inconclusive, as no actual failure code is given.

We'll start simple let's just wipe the ati driver and reinstall it.

Done, without any resolve . When I cleared all drives, the device + CCC, I did the driver sweeper (for ATI display). Installed the latest drivers as a part of the CCC from ati (version: 11.3). After 1 min of browsing I already got a new BSOD. New dump file attached.

    What else can we do?

I did had a Windows essential update, (found that when I did system restore 10 min ago) last time I switch on the computer. How can I remove this esential update, as I think it is this that conflicts with my graphic drivers!?

The new dump is identical to the one I quoted above.
Something is interfering with your ati drivers apparently.

I notice you have the ati hdmi audio driver running, are you actually using the hdmi audio? or plugging into a soundcard or the motherboard for audio?
If so that's a easily resolvable conflict, just open control panel click sound click the hdmi device click properties and disable it using the drop down menu. Or if you are using the hdmi audio, then disable the built in audio. As conflicts will arise from that.

I'm curious as to which of the alladin security products you are using as well.
Becuase I notice you also are using AVAST! it has been known to cause strange crashes on some windows machines. (it usually also just appears out of nowhere so the fact it worked before doesn't really mean anything) The only way to remove it from scrutiny is to remove it.
I recommend replacing it with MSE (Also free) which has no currently known issues in windows 7.
Virus, Spyware & Malware Protection | Microsoft Security Essentials

That's everything I see in the driver dump that I can point too. This is kind of a shotgun blast approach as the bugcheck is not very specific in this instance.

    Code:
    fffff800`00ba5000 fffff800`00baf000 kdcom kdcom.dll Mon Jul 13 20:31:07 2009 (4A5BDFDB) ect.
I have disabled the HDMI driver, as I'm using (for now) an onboard one :). Also deleted Avast. As I recall, last few times, Avast gave a warning and/or update (as it almost alway do, that's why I didn't took notice of it) and the system instantly crashed.

As for the essential windows updated in the list of windows updates, didn't found it, likely I misread it on the system recovery page.

Yet, no succes, didn't wait for a BSOD to show up (waited 2 min on the browser) and went into Total War (game that was running fine before) and after the loading of the map was completed, the screen turned blurry (purple, white dots, green and white stripes) ...

Avast was the only security program, together with a pre-installed software called PC Angel delivered by the manufacturer.

    And other suggestions?

The artifacts you are describing in total war are indicative of a failing graphics card.
This would also explain why the ati driver is the object always crashing.
If you have anything overclocked, I would return those values to normal.
If not I think you may be looking at a rma situation here.

Havn't overclocked, so could be this rma situation? What is that? Will also google for it, but it is new to me.

Since it's a new system you can contact the maker of the card and arrange a replacement. (rma)
I'll see about getting you a second opinion before we tell you to replace hardware, but artifacts are almost always a sign of failing graphics hardware.

I'll see if I can't get a couple of other knowledgeable people to have a look here before we send you on the return route.
