    Sorry to hear the laptop wasn't able to be resuscitated.

    Is the new laptop the one in your System Specs?

    Yeah I'm really gutted about that, spent the extra cash on it because I assumed it'd last 3-5 years!

    Yes it is, I changed my System Specs to the new one as soon as I bought it! Its shared 2gb graphics and 64 bit but the shared graphics really is a horrible idea, its like running Windows 7 on a 1gb or half gb RAM!

    Ram is getting cheaper all the time, you will have a much better performing laptop if you upgrade the RAM to at least 4GB, 2x2gb RAM cards.

    Do a little research first, get the same voltage and timings that your current RAM has now. You can't change the RAM settings in a OEM system.
    Check the HP website for compatible RAM list, pick one from there.
