Have you ran a CHKDSK?
What anti-virus are you using?
Have you ran any 3rd party software on the machine lately.?

And welcome to the forums!!

Your Nvidia driver is the cause, uninstall it and use driver sweeper to remove leftover Nvidia display driver files
Then reinstall the current Nvidia driver =>NVIDIA DRIVERS 266.58 WHQL

Your issue can also be related to overheating(knom problem in the Nvidia series 8000 GPUs), check your temps and run a GPU test with OCCT
OCCT (OverClock Checking Tool) 3.0.0 download from Guru3D.com

Freezes are likely to be caused by your RAM, test it RAM - Test with Memtest86+
Code:
*******************************************************************************
*                                                                             *
*                        Bugcheck Analysis                                    *
*                                                                             *
*******************************************************************************

Use !analyze -v to get detailed debugging information.

UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP (7f)
This means a trap occurred in kernel mode, and it's a trap of a kind
that the kernel isn't allowed to have/catch (bound trap) or that
is always instant death (double fault). The first number in the
bugcheck params is the number of the trap (8 = double fault, etc)
Consult an Intel x86 family manual to learn more about what these
traps are. Here is a *portion* of those codes:
If kv shows a taskGate
        use .tss on the part before the colon, then kv.
Else if kv shows a trapframe
        use .trap on that value
Else
        .trap on the appropriate frame will show where the trap was taken
        (on x86, this will be the ebp that goes with the procedure KiTrap)
Endif
kb will then show the corrected stack.
Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000008, EXCEPTION_DOUBLE_FAULT
Arg2: 0000000080050033
Arg3: 00000000000006f8

yes i ran chkdsk and no errors, no anti-virus as i just reformatted the computer and the bsod and freezes started to happen already, so 3rd party software is probably just itunes and chrome basically.
and thanks for the welcome

ok i think the gpu is probably the issue since it froze every time i tested the gpu in occt. and i ran memtest86+ before starting this thread for hours with no errors. Thanks yowanvista for the advice.

Are you overclocking the GPU?

no i am not overclocking my gpu right now. but i figured i should reapply thermal paste with as5 and did the clean out the driver stuff and reinstall. its not really freezing/bsod anymore but i do get the "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" when i test it in occt.

How many hours?

How many tests were completed?
There are several different tests that run in succession.
It's a long process, but the only way to test the RAM.
Best to run overnight.

I would continue with the GPU trouble shooting first.
