ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download M4A89TD PRO

This is where all of my updated drivers are for my motherboard, chipset, BIOS, etc. What do I have to do to install them to make absolutely sure that they DO NOT hurt my system when I install them?

ESPECIALLY my RAID drivers. Will updating my RAID drivers kill my HDDs or erase my data if I do it wrong?

Thank you, you've already helped me so much, it seems almost painful asking for more information. I know you probably have a real life :P

All the drivers from your motherboard website are for your system and shouldn't cause any problems. First, as always when making these type of changes to your system, make an Image backup. Store it on a seperate physical HDD, for safety.

The free Macrium Reflect Image program is highly recommended, Imaging with free Macrium

RAID drivers normally won't affect the HDDs, with a backup image, you can bring everything back to how it was when you made the image. RAID drivers work between the OS and the hard drive.

Can you fill in your system specs in the 'My System Specs' in the lower left corner of any of your posts. This will make it easier for all members to see your hardware.

    Have you ran:

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Western Digital Lifeguard - HDD testing utility.

Repair Install - this will leave all you programs and settings intact.

D/L CPUZ and post a snip of the CPU, Mainboard, Memory, and SPD tabs.
This will give us some more info on your system.
For posting the information , enter 'Snipping tool' in the Start button > Search box, hit enter. Select the area you want to post and save to a convenient place.

Have you been checking your temperatures?

Use Core Temp , to check the CPU temps when at idle, under load and/or testing.
Let us know the minimum and maximum temps you get.

If you are not using any anti-virus program I would suggest that you install MSE - Microsoft Security Essentials, it's free and will protect your system until you find one that you like.

There is a lot of tests and information here, start at the top and work your way down.
Ask any questions you may have.

I don't really have an external HDD or any blank CDs to make image discs. Kind of unfortunate right now. Would it be helpful to save a system restore just before installing the new drivers?

Yes, that is better than nothing.

Backup is easier, you can always re-install the OS if you have any problems.

    Hello-
First of all, I asked a friend for his opinion and he noticed I was having "disk errors" in regards to my HDDs, and at first when he suspected the RAM, he then suspected that there was a problem with my on board RAID controller.
So then I finally updated my BIOS for my motherboard on Monday, and I haven't had a single solitary BSOD all week. In fact, the computer has been running better than ever.
Apparently, my machine was for some reason thinking I had a third disk in my RAID despite having a RAID 1 with two HDDs. Once I updated the BIOS I suppose it stopped "being confused".
Did a Memtest and RAM and CPU are healthy and working properly.
Thank you so much for all of the help. I couldn't have gotten through it without support from people like the ones on this forum!
