    New rig crashes to restart when using Direct3D


    Hi there

    I have just built a new rig and am experiencing continuing crashes when using any DX app, even the Nvidia control panel when previewing Direct3D - screen goes black after a number of seconds, then the computer restarts.

    I have run Video Memory Tester and the GPU fails crashing to restart.

    The system has the following components (all drivers are up to date to latest version, Asus BIOS v11.02, Realtek HD Audio codecs V259, Nvidia drivers 270.61):

    • Asus Rampage III Extreme Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard
    • Intel Core i7 970 3.20GHz (Gulftown) (Socket LGA1366)
    • Thermaltake Fan ISGC-300
    • Corsair Dominator GT DDR3 PC3-16000 DHX Pro / Airflow II - Kit 12Gb
    • Corsair Professional Series™ Gold AX750 High Performance 750W Power Supply
    • Corsair Obsidian 800D Window
    • MSI GeForce GTX 580 HydroGen 1536MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
    • Pioneer BDR-206DBK 12x BluRay RW / 16x DVD±RW Drive
    • 2 X Intel 510 Series "Elmcrest" 120GB 2.5" SATA-3 Solid State Hard Drive
