    I finally did everything right this time, but because i did it mre than once do u think it created another problem because when i got to part 18 Type copy *.* .. and press <ENTER> to copy the backup hive files to \Windows\System32\config.If you are prompted to overwrite existing files, press A to allow all file to be overwritten. It said " File cannot be copied onto it self?

    Don't follow that tutorial... I did not realize that you are not the original poster of this thread.

    To answer your questions:

    This is correct for 64 bit Windows
    CD \windows\system32\config

    "when I get to part 17 I only have 2 DIr is that good?"
    No, that is not good.

    ======================

    Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here or here or here.
    Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool.
    • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
      1. DDS.txt
      2. Attach.txt

    • Save both reports to your desktop.

    Post those reports in your next reply.

    In the meanwhile, I will ask the moderators to split this off into a separate topic.
