BSOD when logging in

Well lets start from the beginning, i was browsing the web suddenly my anti virus said it detected a virus and a seperate windows command prompt pop up asking me to do something i dont remember. I clicked yes and it turned off my comp, then it kept going to "windows is loading files" and asking me to repair files, which it couldnt find any error and kept restarting my comp over and over. I did system restore which didnt work, backup from an image which also didnt work. I did a factory research which seems to fix the problem but i dont know if its a permanent solution.

Say if i did get a virus or if some files were indeed corrupt would the reset solve them or would it be inevitable that this would happen to me again?

It all depends on which virus you get and also on how you do the system reset.

In short, some viruses will hide in the boot sector of your hard drive - and most formatting won't catch this.
Many system resets will wipe the hard drive clean - but not all.

The safest thing to do is to have a set of system recovery disks.
Then use DBAN or KillDisk (both are free) to completely wipe the drive clean.
Then use the system recovery disks to reset the computer to the way it was when it left the factory.
