    WerFault.exe error with most applications.

My computer was "sleeping". Now when starting apps like Firefox, Thunderbird, Chrome, etc, I get an WerFault.exe error: "The instruction at 0x0000002b referenced memory at 0x0000002b. The memory could not be written". However, is does not affect IE or app that came with the OS. Any idea how to fix this?

Window 7 Ultimate 64bit, memory test did not indicate hardware failure, virus scan from live cd detected nothing.

Have you rebooted after "waking" up the computer?

Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling the programs that are crashing?

What memory testing software did you use? If it wasn't memtest86 then I would like you to run memtest86 for 7-8 passes

Yes, rebooted. Cycled power, shutdown, pulled the plug. Also tried a few restore points, the issue remains regardless of how far back I go.

It does not allow me to uninstall/install. WerFault.exe pops up for this too.

Ran memtest86 as suggested. Completed 7 passes with no error.

    Please advise.

Has anyone developed a solution for this? One moment the computer was working fine; I had a failed installation of the microsoft c++ redistributable so I just canceled it. Next thing I know I go to use IE and I get werfault.exe. Go to uninstall a program, werfault.exe. Go to use anything windows related, werfault.exe. Try a system restore to three days ago and I still get werfault.exe. Try doing a selective startup werfault.exe. I'm not sure where to go next to try to narrow down what is causing the problem.

Edit: And for the love of god, please, no one suggest that we just disable windows error reporting services like the scrubs on all the other forums :-p

I've gone back and done some digging. I noticed that after the problem started occurring the programs mscorsvw.exe, armsvc.exe and daemonu.exe crash whenever the computer starts. Here is the dump for mscorsvw.exe

I can post the others if anyone thinks they would be useful.

Edit: I have a strong suspicion this is related to my failed microsoft c++ redistributable installation mentioned above. The installation actually froze so I had to ungracefully kill it. What I don't understand is why a system restore wouldn't eliminate the problem.
