Windows 7: BSoD when coming out of sleep

Well, having problems again. It was working last night but now it won't go into sleep. It tries, everything shuts down for about 1 second, but than comes back. I have another partition with linux on it and it does the same thing. When I configure the linux to come out of sleep by pressing the power button instead of moving the mouse it works. So I disabled usb in the bios and went back to windows and it works. So, it seems to be something with usb that is the problem. I don't think it's a driver though, because linux is having the same issue.

Try going to Device Manager, right-clicking on your mouse and keyboard, and in the Power tab, uncheck the box "Allow this device to wake the computer".

Awesome, I didn't even know those settings were there. After unchecking the boxes it went to sleep and I can wake it up by pressing the power button.

Just like last night, the intel rst drivers that caused the crashing still do and the ones that worked still work, so that would make me think that there were two problems. The rst drivers and than the usb.

Also, since for about a year I have been able to use the usb to wake up the computer from sleep and now I can't, there must be some thing that got damaged from all the crashes when I was overclocking. Before I read your response, I installed windows 7 to another drive and tried to put it in sleep and wake it up. Had the same problem where it would only shut off for 1 sec and come back on.

Would you say that I have some kind of hardware damage to the usb controller or something, and if so, could I expect other problems down the road because of it?

I wouldn't expect hardware damage, but I could be wrong. There may very well be a setting in your BIOS that deal with USB waking the computer from sleep. Check it out, you may find this is a BIOS setting rather than a problem.

BSOD upon coming out of sleep.
This is the 2nd or 3rd time that I have had a BSOD when getting my system out of sleep mode. When it happens there is no warning. Everything is starting up and loading so the system is bogged down; not very responsive. Other than that, there is nothing that would indicate the immanence of a BSOD....
