Random Reboot / BSOD using work WiFi

weird problem.....Bought a new Acer Aspire Timeline 1810t about 3 months ago. Right out of the box, it has randomly rebooted / BSOD when accessing public WiFi at work (IT there told me they use Cisco Routers). No problems with WiFi anywhere else (wireless G at other workplace and at home, hotels, etc.). Have run Windows memory diagnostic, and everything else I can think of. All clear......

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 (upgraded from OEM Home Basic).
Toshiba HD failed after 1 month, but was replaced under warranty.
Cloned original HD w. Acronis to new one when it came back.
Updated all drivers.
Sometimes shows error 0X0000007F HDAUDBUS.SYS (updated audio drivers to no avail).

Is the perfect subnotebook except for this major annoyance! Have thrown considerable Jack Daniels at the problem to no avail--seeking enlightenment, Paul.

5 Memory dumps in one day - that's a lot!

As soon as we've finished working on this, please visit the Acer website and update ALL of your drivers. Then visit Windows Update...Important Updates and download/install Service Pack 1

Let's start by removing the Audio drivers (uninstall the Audio in Control Panel). Then update the Audio drivers from here: Step5

If the BSOD's continue, then start by temporarily uninstalling ZoneAlarm. Use the Windows Firewall temporarily (just to see if ZoneAlarm is causing the BSOD's). If you need finer firewall control, try this free application: Windows7FirewallControl : Sphinx Software

Then, try to download a fresh copy of the networking drivers (both wired and wireless). These will be difficult as Acer doesn't list Win7 64 bit drivers for these devices. If you can't locate Win7 drivers, please post back and we'll see if we can find them elsewhere.

Just for the record, these are your networking devices:

OLDER DRIVERS PRESENT IN THE DUMP FILES
- Create a System Restore Point prior to doing any of this. DO NOT mess with the drivers themselves - leave the Windows\System32\drivers directory alone unless we specifically direct you to it!
- Please update these drivers from the device manufacturer's website - or uninstall them from your system. Reference links are included below.
- DO NOT use Windows Update or the Update Drivers function of Device Manager.
- Please feel free to post back about any drivers that you are having difficulty locating.
- Windows Update exceptions may be noted below for Windows drivers:

Back to report all's well!

Hi-just wanted to give an update on my progress. First, it appears the problem is solved! I had the notebook running for at least an hour, and no crash/BSOD

FWIW, I had already updated the various intel chipset drivers, and the Intel and Realtek HD audio before your response. I went to Intel's website and used the automated utility to update the WiFi link drivers. After some hunting, I found some newer drivers for the Atheros NIC. I've dropped Zonealarm, kept Malwarebytes Pro, and added MSE for firewall/virus. Win7 service pack 1 is installed, and all seems to be fine......so, seems to be the WiFi/Atheros drivers at fault (or Zonealarm).

Will run the computer longer at work after the weekend, and report back then.

Thanks so much! Paul
