It's a bit worrying how many BSODs are in this forum, and how few seem to be resolved. I guess we just live with them (or buy a Mac?)

Cheers

Hello,

All the crashes mention a problem with Avira, though the Broadcom drivers are also mentioned. You might be able to work around the problem by removing Avira. Use this tool for complete removal: http://dlpro.antivir.com/package/rem...l-win32-en.exe

Install MSE for now: Virus, Spyware & Malware Protection | Microsoft Security Essentials

The true problem is probably with that Broadcom wireless driver. See if you can get newer ones from here: Drivers and Downloads

If not, you only have a couple of options. 1) Send the laptop back to Dell under the warranty, or 2) disable the wireless in the BIOS and purchase an external USB wireless adapter instead. Or you could just disable it and use the Ethernet instead.

Hopefully, the Avira removal will successfully boycott the issue, we'll see!

Thanks!

I will try these solutions. I was unable to get an update for the Broadcom drivers when this was first suggested a few weeks ago, and Avira was installed about 4 months after the BSODs started.

I really appreciate the help, and will report back after I check everything.

Cheers

It's just an idea but it doesn't cost anything: a lot of laptops have a button or function key combination to en/disable wireless. Have you ever tried to switch off wireless operations before you push the sleep button?

Good thought. I'll try it.

The only problem is the intermittency of the fault. Probably only happens every 10-20 hibernates. I will experiment.

Thanks.

SOLVED - I hope!!

Just reporting back.

Although I had a paid subscription to Avira, I took your advice and uninstalled it. I have not had a BSOD since - thank you!!!! It's over a month now.

Of course, Murphy's Law applies, and my computer will now implode.

Thanks, again.
