BSOD with Exteral Firewire Soundcard
i'm having some very strange BSOD's with my new external Firewire soundcard.
latest one was:
Description
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000001e (0xffffffffc0000005, 0xfffff8000333943a, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000833). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 050511-25771-01.
it's been having driver issues with win7 it seems.. but the BSOD started this morning when it was bugging in the software interface, so i decided to reboot the soundcard, and sure enough.. BSOD followed. then upon entering windows again.. and now every time i turn it on i immediately crash.
i'm holding off trying the native drivers instead of the latest stable ones, just incase some light can be shed on what could be the cause of all this, it's also been suggested that my motherboard has a firewire chipset not ideal for the soundcard, I.E not made by Texas instruments, but by VIA.. there was also something about IRQ issues mentioned on this topic.. interfering with the device in some way. so i've now disabled the motherboard "high definition audio device" sharing IRQ
other than that, i can think of things like Power management messing up the external device, so i've also disabled "Link State Power Management" to PCI Express in my power options..
i've attached the collected findings of jcgriff2's app, and the performance report
