Win 7 won't start

    Win 7 won't start


    Win 7 64 bit won't start. After recent Windows update. Start up repair failed multiple time. Unable to open in Safe Mode as Startup Repair begins anew with no results. Tried booting from Win 7 CD and tried "Repair this computer" repair with no luck. Am now back to square one. The issue appears to be with Problem Signature and here are the details:

    problem signature 04 21200656

    problem signature 05 AutoFailover

    problem signature 06 12

    problem signature 07 CorruptFile

    Can anyone help? Please.

    Hello RedwoodHiker. Welcome to the Forum.

    Please try this:

    Boot or Restart the computer, and after the initial boot screen appears and before the Starting Windows screen appears press the F8 key repeatedly. This should bring up the Windows Boot Menu.

    Then tab down to highlight "Last Know Good Configuration" and then press ENTER.

    See if that helps.

    Thanks but tried that before posting this issue and that doesn't work. I have also tried a system recovery which brings me back to the startup repair all over again with no results. Feel as if I am on a merry-go-round with this problem.

    Hey, I am still learning Win 7, did a search for your issue take a look at the following link and see if this helps.

    You may need to run System Recovery Options from the Wn7 DVD or Repair CD so it doesn't depend on possibly corrupt system files. System Repair Disc - Create

    Boot in to try Startup Repair again several times from Disk. If it fails, try System Restore or SFC -SCANNOW Run in Command Prompt at Boot using the options list Command Line.

    You can copy out your files using DVD/CD with this: Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console

    If Win7 is too corrupted to start, you may need to run Factory Recovery if this is factory OEM, use Recovery Disks if you've made them, or find a Win7 installer for your version: Reinstalling Windows 7

    Thanks Gregrocker. I will try your options tomorrow as the suggestions you offered sound promising. I was not aware I could run the Startup Repair from my Win 7 CD and it would then bypass possible corrupt system files. Will try the command prompt as well. Will also copy out any files I neglected to back up to CD from my Win 7 CD. You have given me hope. Thanks a million. Will give you an update once I get er done....

    Is this Factory OEM with a Recovery Partition on the HD, and if so did you make the REcovery disks?

    Do you have access to a Win7 installer?
