    Unexpected I/O error has occurred

Everytime I try and start up my Toshiba Satellite laptop I get the following message after a few minutes of a blank screen.

Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer.

This error can be caused by unplugging a removable storage device such as an external usb drive whilst the device was still in use. etc etc (there were no devices plugged into my laptop)

    File: \Boo\BCD
    Status: 0xc00000e9
Info: An unexpected I/O error has occurred.

I cannot get any further than this as when I press to continue after a few minutes of a black screen I get the same message. I've tried pressing F8 but it just doesn't work.

    Can anyone help!!!

Hi EJH and welcome to SF

Based on what you wrote, it's either a bad plug somewhere or a damaged device driver or worst case scenario: some faulty hardware.
Since it's a Laptop, please check if all those removable devices (like HDD, CD, DVD etc.) Take everything out (incl. RAM), clean it and carefully reconnect the pieces.
It appears you can't boot into safe mode. So let's see how far you get with this. If you get to a point where you can work safely again, I would recommend to update the Chipset drivers (in case the unresponsive device is part of your North bridge)
