I'm never going to try to update may bios with a cd again, my laptop won't play ball with it! So i did it by usb, this time used the the switch /nic which is something to do with networking. The reason i did that was because of the BSOD which pointed to NETIO.SYS. I'll let you know if it crashs again.

Spoke to soon, didn't solve the problem. I ran prime95 as soon as it booted and was working fine. The fan of the laptop was on full during the the test then as i stopped the test the fan stopped dead, then i had a black screen. Surely the fan should't just stop? In safemode the fan is always on all the time

Yes, you are correct. The fan should not just stop. Is the fan working again or does it still not work? If the fan isn't working, you will need to get that figured out before using the laptop again

I think i may of solved the problem. I'll let you know if i get a blackscreen. I changed the processor driver by going to update driver, and browse driver software and there was two compatible drivers for my intel p8700, "intel processor" and "processor". So i'm guessing the "intel processor" was installed so i installed the "processor" driver. I had to do this for both as it is a dual core, but now it seems stable. If this is the solution it's a simple one.

My laptop is now fine, no black screens or restarts. I can't believe it was the processor driver seeing as windows picks that driver. If you hadn't of identified that the driver was causing the bsod i would have never of thought it was that . Thank you.

I'm glad I could help. And good job on figuring that out. I will keep that in mind to have people try if they are having issues with the CPU.

It appears it has already been marked solved
