Frequent and seemingly random BSODs
Hello everyone!
I'd like to start off by saying that my pc knowledge is quite basic. I know more than the casual user, but less than people who frequent this forum (as i have noticed from other threads). I hope you can understand that, while sometimes i might comprehend the things said to me perfectly, other times i won't have a clue what you might be talking about. Just a heads up.
Second: i'd like to thank people for helping me in advance. The people here seem to be mighty kind which is truly refreshing in comparison to other fora one might find on the internet. So: thanks! I'll try to explain the troubles i'm having with my system, and if you need more information i'll do my utmost best to provide it.
I bought my system about three years ago, a plug n play system from HP cause i was/am not confident enough yet to build my own system. At the time of purchase it contained:
Windows Vista Home Premium OEM version 32bit
AMD Athlon 64 XP2 dual core 6000+ 3.0Ghz
Geforce 8500 gt ( i think, been a while)
Samsung HD501LJ 500Gb
350w PSU (cant remember the brand)
etc etc...
As soon as Windows 7 became available i obtained the ultimate version (32 bit) and did a clean install, without any problems.
About a year ago, around march 2010, i decided to upgrade my gpu. I bought a Geforce gts 250 and a Fatal1ty 550w PSU cause my old PSU wouldnt be able to handle the new gpu. I installed them both, again without problems, and everything ran smoothly for a year or so.
Sadly enough, about two months ago i began getting what looked like random BSODs. At first they only occured about once every two days or so, so i didnt give much thought to it, but after a while they began increasing. I figured windows was playing hard to get, and seeing that the possible benifits of a clean install outweighed the loss of many installed games and programs (my documents, music, movies are always backed up), i did another clean install of windows 7 ultimate 32 bit (about 6 weeks ago now) and thought that would fix the problems. But after a day or two the BSODs returned, and have since increased exponentionally, running up to about 10-20 BSODs a day.
There isnt much of a pattern to it, except that i can be sure to expect either a BSOD or an .exe crash whenever i play any game. Also, i seem to frequently get a BSOD whenever i'm voice or vidchatting (using a Hercules webcam with integrated mic) or using my Akai APC 40 with Ableton Live (akai apc 40 is a midi controller designed to be used with Ableton, if you need more info on this, ask away). I havent used either the webcam or the akai apc for a couple of weeks now but the crashes didnt decrease in frequency.
Otherwise they happen purely at random: when im browsing, looking for a song to play in iTunes, or even when i'm not at my computer and no program is running. Some of the BSODs i managed to remember are 0x00000008 , something with ntsf.sys, BAD_POOL_HEADER, PAGE_FAULT_in none paged area, 0X0000007E, 0X000000D1, something with IRQL, and so on...
seeing that the problems started after a year of more or less smooth sailing, and a clean install didnt help, i'm fearing this might be a hardware problem, but once again, i'm too much of a noob to make a judgement like this. So i'm hoping someone can help me here! Once again, sorry if i missed any important info, this is kind of new terrain to me.
Attached are the BSOD Dump & System File Collection and System Health Report, as required.
