    New BSOD...Norton?

Hello, again...I thought my last BSOD would have been my last but no luck. I recently had a device power state failure but you kind folks were able to guide me into a fix. So now I have another issue, that perfmon seems to think could be to do with norton, however I unstalled that after my last HP Recover and 64 bit ultimate install earlier this week.

My System is about two and a half years old retail HP, additional details are
    CPU Core 2 Duo p7350
    Motherboard Compal 30F7
    chipset GM45/GM47 Rev 7
    southbridge 82801m (ich9-m) rev 3
    Bios HP F.55 date 10/06/09
    Single DDR2 4096b gskill 333mhz
    intel 4 seriess chipset

    Crash Report

    Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
    OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1
    Locale ID: 1033

    Additional information about the problem:
    BCCode: 116
    BCP1: FFFFFA80045AF4E0
    BCP2: FFFFF880048E4530
    BCP3: 0000000000000000
    BCP4: 0000000000000002
    OS Version: 6_1_7600
    Service Pack: 0_0
    Product: 256_1

Files that help describe the problem:
    C:\Windows\Minidump\051411-20326-01.dmp
    C:\Users\Micah\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-97407-0.sysdata.xml

I attached the dmp file but it doesn't seem that the sites uploader supports html files.

Thanks for your help in advance.

The most recent 3 were Related to hpdskflt.sys HP Disk Filter from Hewlett-Packard Corporation

I would un-install as much of the HP bloatware as you can

That's crazy, that is the same thing that caused it last time. I already uninstalled that, but apparently its back. I uninstalled it again. Any reason why it came back? Also, did you notice in the perfmon report, that it discussed norton? Any reason why? How can anything norton be there when I uninstalled Norton already?

Norton is both a resource hog and cause of BSOD's anyway but I didnt see it loaded or active.

RE: the HP bloatware. It is almost impossible to remove without doing a clean isntall from a non HP dvd.

Their assistants have odd names, are difficult to track down and I have had to be relentless. Even their accelerometer and fingerprint readers with cause windows to re-install drivers and that may be your case.

Ok, any suggestions on how to do a cheap/free clean non-hp install? I have a windows upgrade disc, but my recovery disks are hp. Two other questions, how do I rep you for your help, and I am assuming you are some sort of MS Certified, any good online ways one can going about become a Microsoft Tech Specialist?

Sorry to chip in, but I have to disagree with you there. Starting with Norton 2009, the whole engine has been revamped to leave a small footprint and be particularly user-friendly (especially Norton Internet Security). The LiveUpdate module, for instance, used to be a separate component until and with Norton 2008. This is no longer the case. BSODs following a Norton installation can often result from directly over-installing Norton over a previously installed antivirus software (especially from another vendor/brand). However, if you ever need in-depth help with Norton software, please visit the Norton Community Forums - the support over there is outstanding. Okay - back to the thread topic

You are of course entitled to your opinion, and I used to be a norton fan but, that being said after 10,000 BSOD analysis I have seen more caused by Symantec products than I ever care to look at again.

They are difficult to remove (hence there own specialized removal tool)

Comparatively they do use more resources than say Microsoft security essentials.

Etc. Everyone will have their own favorite, and I dont even mention mine for it is just my favorite.
