Windows 7: Constant reboots after Windows Update

Constant reboots after Windows Update

I have run my PC on Windows 7 64 bit Home premium since August 2010, fantastic - quick, no issues. I recently did a windows update (late April) and accepted the recommended SP1. At the same time I updated security update for Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (KB2467175). The Visual C++ failed. Since then I get constant reboots (critical errors 24 in the last hour). I can not go back to a restore point. If I open system restore the PC immediately shuts down. I have looked in Event viewer and I get 0 timestamp and 0 against all the other entries in the critical error. The Visual C++ Redistributable keeps coming up for windows update and if the PC doesn't shut down it will load after a long period. On reboot it says it still needs to update it. Can anyone help as it is impossible with sometimes as little as two minutes before it reboots. Last night though it kept going for 2 hours before it started to reboot itself again. Motherboard Asus P7P55D-E LX. I wish I hadn't accepted the Windows Update important downloads.

Can anyone help or is this a rebuild back to before SP1?

windows 7 ultimate

For now, If I was you, and you haven't deleted the Service Pack Back up Files, I'd uninstall SP1. When I first installed it I had no end of problems that previously didn't exist. I installed again 3 weeks later and have had no problems at all. Go Figure!

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

I've tried to uninstall SP1. I went through Control Panel - Programs and Features - Installed Updates. It says I have non installed. I am not sure what I can do to resolve this now. Thanks anyway.
