BSOD - Post Reinstallation of Windows
My Windows 7 is . . .
- x64
- original OS installed on a self-built system
- an OEM version purchased from NCIX
- The system is less than 1 yr old. (approximately 1/2 year)
- AMD Phenom II x4 955
- Gigabyte 790XTA-UD4
- Powercolor Radeon HD5770
- OCZ 500W PSU
- GSKILL 4GB DDR3 RAM
- The OS is just re-installed.
This is a friend's computer that I helped build, and it was fine for a while, but then he said he was getting random crashes. I thought re-installing Windows would help, so I did, and I did a google search, and found people complaining about ATI's HD5770 video card being sometimes a problem, so I removed the display driver to try and remove a parameter from the equation. The system is with a fresh Windows install, and I know it's missing an Anti-Virus right now. After I can get some stability onto the system I'll install MSE for sure.
The system still BSOD's repeatedly when I run a RAM test: MemTest: RAM reliability tester for Windows for some strange reason, which I found weird because I've also ran the latest version of memtest86, booted from USB, and that passed with no errors.
Thanks in advanced for the help.
