Having trouble booting from CD too, but I chose the option to use the CD as a zip drive, does this matter?

My god, sry guys. Lol, I needed to open it with the windows image burner program. I promise though, I'll have the result soon enough.

**Update from one of my touchscreen devices**

I'm currenty on the memtest screen with pass 1 @ 25%. Do I leave it alone and let it just do its thing?

Just leave it for a while.
6-7 passes, or even better, over the night

Good luck,
Best Regards,

cool, going to edit this post throughout the day to update on passes/fails.

Pass - 6

Fail - pending

Is there really a reason for a few more after all this? Just curious. Are we seeing how long it can go without fail? More rigorous test?

Did you run WD lifeguard on both hard drives?

By zip drive do you mean USB memory stick?

You need to run memtest86+ for a full 7 passes, each pass is a different test. These different tests stress the RAM in different ways, test #5 & #7 usually generate errors if the RAM is bad. All the tests are important to do.

If you get one error, that's too many. If you get an error, let it run for 15-30 minutes to see if it is getting a couple errors or a lot of errors, then you can stop the test.

As FredeGail mentioned it is best to let it run overnight.

You mentioned you downloaded all the Windows updates, did they all get installed?
Your events log had a lot of Windows update failures.
Several times it was listed that Windows update was turned off.

Let us know your progress.

You are running two different brands of RAM, this can be problematic.

Wow, really? I had no idea that mixing ram names mattered. Let me ask a ?, is it better to have two of the same ram sticks in the same 2 slots? Is mixing them up bad? Memtest86+ still running and I haven't had any problems. Yes, the windows updates were successfully installed. Like I said, I've been updating the thread I started with the passes and fails above. So far, I haven't had any, when I go back to check, I'll be updating if there are. Also, WD lifeguard passed both drives, in the quick and extended tests. Still no errors so far, just checked. Want me to do a rescan for changes after I'm done?

Thanks for the update.

Different brands usually have slightly different recommended settings and sometimes this will cause issues.
Sometimes they just won't run at all.

Electronics and especially RAM can be quite fickle, just because RAM passes memtest86+ doesn't mean is 100% ok, or that it will pass next time.
Have seen many times that the 3rd or 4th or... time will fail.
Memtest86+ is the best RAM test available, the above explains why the test runs for so long.

Keep us posted.

7 passes now and still no issues. Do I keep it running or?

Here's what I'm gonna do, now that I see that it SEEMS to work ok, i'll just run windows normally. I'll report back if I get anything. My system's really not that old. Do you want me to do anything if I have it running normally? What am I supposed to do about chrome? I have this forum post bookmarked.

Stop the memtest86+ when it finishes the 7th pass.

If you've had another crash, upload the crash files, same as before.

If you are still getting IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL crashes, you will need to remove two RAM cards, leaving a matched pair, and check if you get another crash.

Tell me what slots you have the RAM cards in now, if you don't know the motherboard RAM slot names, just count the slot closest to the CPU as slot one.

Just checked, you haven't mentioned Chrome before, what's the issue?
