Win7 x64 Ultimate freezing

Recently my Win7x64 Ultimate has been freezing. The screen and mouse freeze and the only thing that can be done is a reset.
I did a driver update check, and all my drivers are up-to-date.
I am running a Intel Core2 6700 @2.66GHz, with a nVidia GeForce 9800 GT graphics card.
I am not seeing anything in the event viewer except an error about DLPortIO.sys file.
I ran Memtest86 for 4 hours with no failures by using a memtest ISO file image and creating a CD to boot memtest.
When I tried another memory program (memtest.exe), which runs while Windows is still running, the PC froze after about an hour.

Any ideas on this would be appreciated.

Google DLPortIO.sys and you will see there are quite a few others with the same problem.

I see what you mean. Many of the entries say it has to do with a parallel port.
My motherboard Abit AW9D-Max doesn't have any COM or LPT ports. Can I safely just delete that DLPortIO.sys file ?

I ran Memtest86 overnight to see if I had any memory issues. No memory tests failed, but the screen was frozen and I had to reset to get control back.
That tells me my problem is definitely hardware doesn't it ? I booted Memtest off a CD ISO image I had created, so Windows 7 was not running at all.
