    Windows 7 freezing

    Hi.

I have Windows 7 professional 64-bit upgrade edition installed on my custom PC.

    Spec:

    Abit AN78GS Motherboard
    AMD Athlon X2 4600 64 BIT Processor
    Hitachi 320GB hard drive
    Corsair 4 GB DDR2 667MHz RAM
    Sparkle graphics card

The operating system has been crashing (freezing) and subsequently I have to turn off/on the power supply to switch it back on due to no response when it crashes.

This has recently occurred twice in one hour with both cases happening whilst watching a video on youtube in Internet Expororer 64-bit.

I HAVE FOUND THE EVENTS RELATED TO THESE CRASHES UNDER SYSTEM LOG IN THE EVENT VIEWER:

    SOURCE

    Kernel-power

    Event ID

    41

    Task category

    (63)

    Source

    Event log

    Event ID

    6008

    Task category

    None

Any help would be much appreciated!!!

    NEW CRASH!!!!

Recently Windows crashed again and automatcally shut down. A stop error screen (blue background) appeared stating the following:

Windows had to shut down your computer.

Attempt to reset the display driver and recover from timeout failed etc etc.

AGAIN this crash occured whilst browsing the internet in Internet Expororer 64-bit although this time it was just viewing a website and not watching a video.

Now at my wits end!!! Maybe should have stuck with XP!! 3 years and no problems!!!

There are several ways to find what the problem is. The best is to go into event viewer (type eventvwr in search). Go to the windows log>application tab.

You want to look for critical errors (they have red in the left column ).

When you find them you want to look for critical errors that say app hang, app crash, or anything that relates to the problem.

When you find them please note the event ID, and the source codes and tell us what they are.
