    Seemingly popular BSOD!

    Hi guys,

Sorry to bug but I have been experiencing a lot of system freezes and hangs as well as the daily BSOD!

I have read the posting instructions and only managed part of it as the perfmon /report was in error:

    Error:

An error occured while attempting to generate the report.

The system cannot find the path specified.

I have attached the files how ever for any one to view and hopefully help.

    Thanks in advance
    Eldin

p.s. I have a update that is taking for ever - looks like service pack 1 but its been 0% for hours now!

Looks like you are having problems with your hard drive.

Run a hard drive scan using SeaTools - SeaTools for Windows | Seagate - Both long and short tests

If they fail then you'll probably want to look into replacing the drive.

    Hi there,

Thanks for the reply but I also thought that it could be the drive but did various disk scans before posting and no errors came up. I did manage to read on one post some where that some times virtual drive software does cause issues with windows 7. After posting this message my machine had a go at the starter pack 1 and unfortunately bombed half way through and now my system wont start up at all. It tries to configure on start up, fails and then reverts back and then goes bsod on me. I have now managed to finally get into safe mode in order to try back up all my information off the machine in case it crashes and I need to full restore - I just really need to get my information off. I do how ever have a feeling that this is purely a windows 7 issue and that is the last resort.

    any ideas?

Have you tried different hard drive cables? If you can back up your data try formatting and reinstalling Windows. You could have had a bad install.

The causes of the bug checks you are having are:

Usual causes: Memory, Paging file corruption, File system, Hard drive, Cabling, Virus infection, Improperly seated cards, BIOS, Bad motherboard, Missing Service Pack

Thanks again for the reply but I have a Acer Aspire laptop and its still under warranty although it is expiring on the 29 June 2011. So trying different cables etc is not really an option. I managed to get back into the system and installed that Seagate drive test and have run a few tests. It passes on all the Short Generic tests but fails almost immediately on the Long Generic test.
I have now started to back up my file and having to do it one by one because it seems that when accessing a certain file it bombs. Once I have backed up everything I am going to try a full fresh re install and run that drive test again and if it fails - I will be sending it into Acer for them to service and hopefully replace the drive as it does seem to be the issue.

I have done a Windows CHKDSK
    790 large file records processed
    0 bad file records
    0 EA records
    44 reparse records
    CHKDSK is verifying indexes
deleting index entry TM8307~1 in index $130 of file 3342
Deleting index entry TMP000004A25A45F4A5FC73912B in index $130 of file 3342
CHKDSK is scanning unindexed filees to reconnect to their original directory
Recovering Orphaned file {A700D~1 (43829) into directory file 58660
Recovering orphaned file {A700DF46-78E24C31-82F5-A7759836BC36} (43829) into file directory 58660
    Recovering orphaned file 00000000000674A (59185)

unfortunately that is all I could type down while it scanned.

Thanks again for the help and assistance. I will keep you posted.
