    Control panel failed to load

I am having issues with the control panel:

I am getting a message with most control panel pages saying "this page failed to load"
I ran sfc/ scannow and it froze at 6% with an error (see attached pic).

I am running Win7 64 bit home premium.

If anyone can help that would be great.

    Welcome
Make a full and updated virus scan. Download and make a full scan with malwarebytes. If negative
Can you go back a week before the problem began with a System Restore?

I started the free version of Malwarebytes and it is already coming up with results... will I have to buy the full version to remove them or what?

Stay with the free. It does everything the pay does, except no real time protection, you find out after the fact. If the pay version can remove, so can the free version. Good luck

I'm sorry to say it didn't work.... I ran a full regular virus scan too but nothing came..

Is there a way I can reset my registry settings to the defaults?

No, that cant be done, unless you reinstall, but if you use System Restore from before the problem the registry will be reset to good times, too.

You can restore the registry to around a couple of days back from the regback folder. Follow this tut, just skip steps 6,7,8 and 9 because you dont need a startup repair.

Dont forget about system restore, you can probably go back a lot further. You will be taken back to the time selected, including registry.
