BSOD 0x00000124
Hello my fellow computer geeks.
I have encountered my first BSOD on my first computer built. I apologize for sounding like an amateur as it is my first time dealing with this problem.
Problem:
So, one day I start my computer and it blue screens with the STOP error 0x00000124. I assume it's the BIOS so I update it. But, I also notice that the hard drive with the OS (Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit) is not detected so I take out all of the hard drives and put in a brand new one with the intention of reformatting my computer and installing Windows 7 Home 64-bit.
However, when I boot my CD drive to install the OS, the BSOD pops up after loading the initial black Windows loading screen appears.
So, I am left with an unfortunate problem. I have a computer without an OS that blue screens every time I boot to try to install the OS.
Treaments:
I've reset the CMOs by taking out the battery and updated with the latest BIOs
I've stripped the computer to the bare minimum (1 hard drive, 1 cd-drive, mobo, graphics card).
Specs:
ASUS Sabertooth X58 LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s
CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V v2.2
CORSAIR XMS3 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1366
MSI R5770 Hawk Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16
Samsung 1TB Hard Drive
CD/DVD drive of some brand (I figure that this and the hard drive are not really relevant).
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I cannot run any diagnostic test since the OS is non-existent.
