I'm confused (occurs easily).

You do or not have anymore BSODs?

Ok just got another total system freeze. This time windows didn't give me a chance to reboot in safe mode, only restore or repair. I tried repair, it failed, then rebooted again and got back into normal windows???

Disabled Verifier straight away.

What should I do now? Is there a file I should post?

Vlad,

I don't really understand. If it froze, then you weren't given a chance to do anything.

Perhaps your definition of froze is different from mine.

Once again, follow this procedure. To help you get immediate attention, then I recommend simply a fresh thread with the info that the link generates attached to your fresh thread..

I'll stay away to improve the chances of you getting a quick response from one of the BSOD analyzers.

The simple answer is go to c:\windows\minidump
zip up and attach whatever may be in there.
If there is a lot just the two or three most recent is fine.

By freeze I mean the PC stops responding to any input. It doesn't go to a bsod or anything just stops responding. The screen stays on the last image, and the sound freezes on the last sound, if I am on desktop there is no sound, if I am in a game the last sound is played by the speakers continuously.

Mouse doesn't move, keyboard does work, and the HDD led light stops blinking. At first I thought it was a broken HDD, but I installed W7 on a new HDD and the freezes keep happening.

The only option is to manually reset the PC, by unplugging the power cable. After this the PC starts as normal.

Am I really the only one who has this issue?

Hi,

I don't have any minidump files in windows folder. Do I have to enable this in settings?

Thanks

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
Under the Write Debugging Information header
Select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
OK your way out.
Reboot if changes have been made.

Vlad,

The porcedure you received from Maguscreed should work just fine. If you still can't create a minidump, then here are a couple of suggestions:

MEMORY DUMPS - REQUIREMENTS

PAGING FILE ENABLED AND MANAGED BY WINDOWS 7
WIN + PAUSE/BREAK key combo |
Advanced system settings in left-hand pane |
the System Properties dialog will open with the Advanced tab selected |
in the Performance section, Settings button |
in the resulting Performance Options section, Advanced tab |
in the Virtual Memory section, Change button |
in the resulting Virtual Memory dialog, checkmark Automatically manage paging... |
OK
button | OK button | OK button

STARTUP AND RECOVERY SETTINGS
WIN + PAUSE/BREAK key combo |
Advanced system settings in left-hand pane |
the System Properties dialog will open with the Advanced tab selected |
in the Startup and Recovery section, click on the Settings button |
in the System Failure section, checkmark Write an Event to the system log |
in the System Failure section, checkmark Automatically restart|
Under Write debugging information, select Small memory dump (128K) |
in the Small dump directory: box, enter %SystemRoot%\Minidump |
OK
button

If you get a crazy message from Win 7 about your paging file being too small, then just ignore the message since we have already made sure that the paging file is set to be managed by Win 7.

ENABLE THE WINDOWS ERROR REPORTING SERVICE
WIN key | type SERVICES.MSC | ENTER key
Scroll down to Windows Error Reporting Service |
Double-click on Windows Error Reporting Service |
In the resulting dialog, General tab |
In the Startup type box, choose Automatic |
In Service status, Start button |
OKbutton
