Windows 7: CACHE_MANAGER Code x34 BSOD

03 Jul 2011   #1

Windows 7 HP 64bit

Title is the BSOD I received. System is new build, about
a month old. Specs are in my sig.

After googling the error it says "you may need more ohysical memory"
but I have 16gigs of memory installed. Does not make sense.

I have the newest drivers installed for all hardware.
The performance monitor suggests an issue with the sonicWall VPN
software, but there isn't any. This is only used to VPN tunnel into my work.

Boot drive is a Intel 510 120gig SSD.
Running Win 7, 64 bit HP, all updates installed.

After the error occured, I had to wait a few minutes to reboot the
system to get a display. The first time, I got a black screen, drives spinned
up and the system rebooted a second time, to another black screen.
Powered down, waited about 5 minues and the sytem booted normally.

I've attached the needed dump files.

No new hardware has been added. I do have two USB drives attached and
and eSata 2TB drive.

Please let me know how this can be resolved, thanks for your help..

Windows 7 x64

apparently one of the drives is still formatted FAT32 and this was the cause of the error from the looks of it.

There are a few other issues here though.
Conexant: Modem Driver Assistance
Run that tool to try and find a proper drivers for your modem.

I'm not 100% on this (as a fix) but there is a way to convert a drive from FAT32 to NTFS but it's a bit time consuming.

Convert FAT or FAT32 Volume to NTFS
there is a tutorial here on it though.

Thanks for the fast reply!

All drives except an old WD MyBook 250gig and iPod are NTFS formatted,
those are USB 2.0 and FAT32. Both of those were plugged into
my old Win 7 box, which I'm still using with no problem for about 4 years.
Is it pointing to one of them?

I dont have a "modem", but I do have a Realtek LAN port for internet.
That seems confusing?

That device is not showing up in device manager?
What do you suggest I do?

All drivers i do have loaded came off the ASUS disk supplied with the system
which is four weeks old. Except for video which is direct frm the AMD website.
When I look under programs to see the software installed, there is no
software driver for a "conexant" modem.

Looks like that modem is circa 1997, which I dont have...LOL

I've converted the USB drives to NTFS, without issue.

This is going to seem counter indicated by the operations manual... but never use the disks, they always ship with day 1 drivers for the device they ship with.

Translation - Go to asus directly and download latest versions of drivers

First thing I notice is the bios has 5 versions all stability updates. ...
2 major updates for the usb
as well as storage drivers...

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P8P67-M PRO
Any of those could lead to problems.
Especially a bios known to cause crashes.
If you haven't flashed a bios before, that much I DO recommend checking the operations manual on.

No problem in flashing the BIOS. The drivers I have installed match those
on the website, version wise. I will double check them all.

I dont have the latest BIOS however (mine is 708), and will flash that tonight.

Dont see any drivers that are a month old, I do see one utility program in April.
I've updated the BIOS to latest, and set to defaults.

I'm in safe mode right now, could not boot direct into windows, it gave me
a BSOD right away that was generic.

Will try again now, otherwise I'm open to suggestions.

Well truth be told this is a access violation, it could have actually come about just from two apps trying to access/change the same file at once.
