BSOD on newly replaced hard drive
My Dell Inspiron 1440 laptop is Windows 7 x 64. It came with Windows 7 pre-installed, but I had a ton of problems with it and just recently had Dell replace the hard drive (a refurbished hard drive) that also came with Win 7, but a very "slimmed down" OEM version, so I had a LOT of software reinstallation to do. It kept crashing, so I used one of my Windows 7 OS disks that came with the original configuration and installed it (3 times) on top of the OS they included with the refurbished hard drive. My computer is 1 1/2 years old, I don't know the age of the hard drive. The OS is also 1 1/2 years old, but newly re-installed.
Although I had a million problems with the original hard drive, I never had a BSOD on it until now. I ran the debugger, but don't have a clue what I'm looking at and to be honest, I am SO SICK of dealing with computer problems right now, I don't feel like researching what little bits I did learn from running it!
I do have an extended warranty, but I really HATE dealing with Dell's Tech Support, so if I can resolve it (or you nice people can) relatively easily, then I'd rather go that route.
Hope you can help! Thanks in advance...
Betty
