    2. Log in as an administrative user.
    3. Click Start Menu.
    4. Click Control Panel.
    5. Click Hardward and Sound.

    8. Right click the Intel Controller.
    9. Click Uninstall (do not hit ok in the dialog box that pops up).
    10. Put a tick in the box to Delete the driver software for this device.
    11. Click OK.
    12. Restart the computer if asked to do so.

You can obtain the download at Acer Support: Downloads & Support Documents - Desktop / Aspire / Aspire X3910

Your X3900 is not listed on the acer site, thus the confusion...

Feeling a bit apprehensive about this, please re-assure me. If I uninstall the driver on the intel storage will i still be able to use the computer to reinstal the new one? Everything the computer uses is on the hard drive. Im worried it might completely freeze the computer. Will the computer still run ok after installing the new driver?

Uninstalling should not affect your system adversely. If you are apprehensive, create a restore point before uninstalling. Same is true for installing the new driver. It also should not affect the system adversely.

Thank you very much for the help Writhziden

Was pretty pi.... off about the problem so I uninstalled all of the ATA controllers plus the Intel AHCI SATA Controller where I opted for deleting the driver as you said.

I then rebooted and used the last original Intel driver set from the computer manufacturer.

    No errors since!

    Thanks,
    Laurus
