Crash/REcovery help

Reboot Win7 x64 Ultimate this am.. get the following BSOD
0x000000F4 (0x000000000003, 0xFFFFFA8009019B30,0xFFFFFA8009019E10,0xFFFFF80003967640)

So go into F8, safe mode. CRASHES ! Similar error...

Then try Repair option and try to do sytem restore.
Shows 1st restore point available at 08:38 this am, "Window Update - Critical Update" and 2 others from 11pm and 9am yesterday. So select 1st. click next and I get message in selection list that states " You must enable system protection on this drive" - i.e. my system drive, with check box in left column not checked. Unable to check the box and Next button is disabled.
Thought this was turned on, but tough to do so if I can't restore/boot into win7.
Appears I'm unable to do system restore as other restore points give same disabled "next" button..

Thoughts on how to get around this problem ??

Try use the Startup Repair CD to find more restore points.

If you have not made your Startup Repair
System Repair Disc - Create
Do you have a mate with Windows 7 & CD/DVD RW Drive, how could burn one off.

Yeah, got one.. but not working either. (Thanks).
Luckily I have a dual-boot (XP64) system, and I jsut happened to make a reg backup to another drive BEFORe the reboot, so am in process of renaming current reg files to .bak, copying backup into \system32\config and about to see if that works! Could be any worse than current state.

PS: Thank to admin on BSOD solution reminder at top of thread
Would have done that had I been able to boot Win7 to get even get into safe mode.. then to the logs, etc. <duh!>

yup.. should probably confirm that reg fix in XP64... other PC recovery appears to be working with older reg files, .. so looking good. Will have to investigate other backup/recovery options than currently in use

thanks for your help

Maybe worth making a restore point & reboot to Win XP, than reboot Windows7, to see if deleted.
