BSOD, incling, urgent to consider re-install os(newbuilding)

please take the time to look through my report for errors, thnx

(background to issue, if issue is fundamental and well known for instance):
Before installing the drivers to my PEAk dual tv/digital pci adapter I have seen on the internet various reviews of windows media centre either crashing or upsetting the registry.

Quite simply the installation dvd for the tv card came with a media suite which never actually finishes scanning for channels and doesnt perform a BSOD itself. The BSOD has come twice before from getting to 97% scanning for channels in windows media centre(nb not hypermedia centre(shipped with tv card)).

So apart from this crash the tv works fine under windows although not entirely confirming its entire scanning of all channels.

A day later: after having rebooted teice and ignoring this crash, hoping my registry settings arent changed like a saw in a review I went about doing various installations of software , like you do on a new build. Out of know where I get BSOD.(this happened just now)

I think I correctly attached the system scan files, put it might be in excel format as I had difficulty getting it into html.

please help though as working efficiently I cannot for the life of me work on a computer that could crash at any random time even once due to something I could solve now. My initial reaction to this BSOD is to re-install the OS and everything as I have done in the past when I get a virus on my old computer. So ideally(unless someone knows) i will go ahead and do this. I have never diagnosed a BSOD/virus/registry problem on a forum before.

edit: (15minutes in) this guy has same card

Taking a large guess in saying perhaps the drivers weren't up to date and they previously edited the registry and performed this BSOD. (if that is even possible).
so I have updated them, removed hypermedia centre, might not install most up to date of this anyway.

important question: why would I get BSOD randomly when not even in windows media centre?. perhaps nothing to do with tv card whatsoever

so im still not satisfied : anyway someone can point to my system report as to how and why old driver would edit registry? thnx

    Hello Toffee, welcome to SF!

I haven't seen this many times in conjunction with a screen/output problem before but according to your last dump, you have a problem with fvevol.sys which is part of the bitlocker system within W7.

You probably set up Bitlocker for a reason but for testing purposes, turn it off please, if possible. And then test of course.

Your drivers seem up to date and the only other thing pointing to possible problems is multiple cases of unfinished/unsuccessful Windows Updates. Please finish those, manually one by one if need be.

Your dump before that points to USBPORT.SYS. That is one of the drivers that should be up to date through Windows Update. Again please check.

hi, I know there is a bitlocker that comes with windows 7 64 bit ult but I havent located it or even considered attempting to use it atm.

The only unusual thing I noticed was something called empty temp folder 2.8.3 on the programs list which started at startup once. So how would I go about disabling bitlocker?

also there was definately something wrong with a 64 bit version of 7 zip which i uninstalled and got a 32 bit version instead, infact im just using winzip( much nicer interface).

im currently finishing a few downloads then going to shut down for updates. I wont go into details of the two times a large file has failed downloading , I think it was due to outlook being setup and downloading all my emails which took over the process.

Are there any clues in my camera shots above? Maybe I should do the bios update sometime in the next few days.

but yeah,, we should definately deal with this bitlocker :)... I will search how to locate/remove it but im afraid I know absolutely nothing about it....all i know is you can encrypt files,,,whther this includes rar/zip files, i have no idea

That is strange, I'll have to research why you would have bitlocker file warnings when you do not use it.
Bitlocker comes with Ultimate or Prof and allows you to encrypt whole disks, not individual files.

Your dumps already told me what is in your screens, and much more...

Please make sure you have successful Windows update(s) first... we'll go on from there.
