    Sudden BSOD recently


    I recently began to experience starting on July 15th a BSOD. It started right as I was using Process Hacker to terminate Firefox which ended up freezing. Figured it was a one off problem. Then on the 17th it happened again but this time I was downloading a game off Steam onto my hard drive. I then did some digging and saw that panda cloud had something to do with second BSOD. I ended up removing it but that did not solve the problem.

    Ever since then I had intermittent BSOD's until today when I had 3 in a row.

    I had a feeling it might be an issue with memory considering some of the blue screens related to STOP Errors especially 0x05 I ended up booting to memtest86+ and ran it for the better part of today. Did 5 total passes without any failure. I have 8 GB of total ram. Kingston and Crucial. DR2 PC2-8500, DDR2 PC2-6400, DDR2 PC2-5300, DDR2 (non-ECC)

    I removed panda cloud. I also did try Verifier and that caused MSE to give a BSOD especially relating to mpfilter.sys. I removed MSE and right now don't have any Antivirus software. Could it be that my hard drive is dying and causing the blue screens. The Hard drive in question is a Western Digital Caviar SE 500GB SATA?

    I am muffed as to what exactly is causing this to happen. It just cropped up out of the blue.

    Figured I'd follow up to see if anyone was looking at this thread. Last night I did a chkdsk c: /r /f on my system. Let it run over night.

    It did fix some issues. Windows proceeded to BOOT and has been running as of now without any issues. I did SFC /scannow and that found no driver errors.

    Still wondering why I ended up getting those Blue Screens in the first place. I might do one more memtest86 tonight just to be sure its not memory related. Could anyone look for me and see if you notice anything that I might have missed.

    I just want to note that yesterday I did the Verifier and it ended up that driver verifier caused three BSOD.

    Driver_Verifier_Detected_Violation - mpfilter.sys, ntoskrnl.exe
    Driver_Verifier_Detected_Violation - watchdog.sys, ntoskrnl.exe

    Those were the three Blue screens.

    Don't know if anyone can help. Still getting BSOD. Ended up running memtest86+ with just my two memory sticks for a good 15 hours with 13 passes done. I haven't booted yet into regular windows yet though

    Can someone please help?. PC Ran fine for the better part of yesterday until another Driver_Verifier_Detected_Violation - mcdbus,sys

    Sorry for bumping my thread again but I am just trying to figure out how to resolve the issue at hand.

    Here is what I did so far to try to mitigate and fix the problem


    1)7-20 Did a Memtest86+ a few days ago but only did 5 passes. This was when I had all 4 of my memory sticks in which equaled 8 GB. Passed fine

    2) 7-22 Did driver verifier and ended up getting a total of 4 BSOD relating to the verifier. The first one was right when I was logging into Windows 7. I ended up removing the four drivers relating to the verifier blue screen. Also removed the offending programs as well just in case.

    2)7-21 I did a chkdsk /r /f overnight on the main drive housing Windows 7 and it fixed some small issues

    3)7-22 Ended up getting one more verifier error BSOD relating mcdbus.sys. Found out magidisc while uninstalled mcdbus.sys was still in the drivers folder. I removed it completely. Reset verifier

    4)7-22 I decided to take out my original Kingston 2x2GB memory sticks that I had from older system that I put in this computer when I built it. I now only have my 2x2GB 240-pin DIMM DDR2 PC2-6400 Crucial memory sticks in (Purchased them in late Dec of 2010). Proceeded to do a memtest86+ on the two sticks overnight. Let it run for about 15 hours with a total of 13 passes. Not one single error happened.

    5)7-23 Booted to the Windows 7 install disc. Did a repair which ran quick and proceeded ti do some tweaking and fixing of the booting process.

    5)7-24. I am now booted into Windows 7 and its been up for 4 hours and 42 minutes.

    I am just trying everything possible. I hope and this is a big hope that the steps I did take have fixed the issue at hand.

    I have included the 4 dump files from when driver verifier was running and gave the 4 individual blue screens.

    Could someone please look over this issue for me. See if there is anything I missed or should do. I was here a few years back for an issue relating to Windows 7 and you people helped me fix it :) Thanks again
