BSODs on new PC
Hi all,
I just built a new PC and I'm having trouble with blue screens, and I'm really hoping someone might be able to help me.
So far, I've only gotten blue screens while playing Battlefield Bad Company 2, though this is the only game I've played since putting together the new computer. What happens is I'll be playing for about 20 - 30 minutes and then the sound will start repeating (fast repeating. Probably one tenth of a second of sound is repeated), and then about half a second later the blue screen comes up.
My computer is:
Windows 7 Home Premium x64, retail version
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3-B3, BIOS version F2
CPU - Intel Core i5 2500k
GPU - Nvidia Geforce 9800 GTX
RAM - 2x 4GB of G.SKILL Ripjaws DDR3 1600 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231314)
Hard drives - 1TB Samsung Spintpoint F3 HD103SJ; 750GB WD drive of some sort that I can't find the model number of
Optical drive - Asus DVD burner (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827135204)
Case - Antec 300
Cooling - XIGMATEK Gaia SD1283
All of the hardware except the GPU is a week old (to me). The GPU is about 3 years old. The computer I was using the GPU in before never had any problems with BSODs, but I'm sure that doesn't mean much for this.
The OS is also about a week old, though I've done almost nothing on it because I was out of town for most of the time that I've had this computer built. I have not yet tried re-installing as a way to fix these blue screens.
Other information: my CPU idles at around 37c. When running prime95, the highest temp I've seen on any one core is 59c. When playing Battlefield Bad Company 2, I've never seen the temperature go higher than when running prime95 (though to be honest, I'm obviously not watching the temperatures the entire time I'm playing, and with my video card going, I suppose it may get hotter than running just prime95). If it matters, my house is kept around 27c. By the way, I've had prime95 running for an hour now (which is longer than I've been able to play BFBC2), and have not seen a blue screen.
My BIOS is version F2. There is currently a version F5 available, but I have no idea if it fixes blue screen issues. I would like to not flash my BIOS except as a last resort.
I believe all my drivers are up to date. Motherboard, sound, LAN, video, USB. Am I missing anything?
On the advice of another post I saw on this forum, I ran memtest86+ for a few hours (about 18 hours, actually since it ran while I slept and worked), and it gave me 15 passes and 0 errors.
In case it might help diagnose the problem, I'll attach a screenshot of the blue screen as well as the latest dump file. I tried to install a program to be able to review the dump file myself, but couldn't figure it out, which is the point at which I decided to make a post here.
I can't think of any other information that might help, but if there are questions, please let me know and I'll answer them.
Thank you in advance!
