    High SVCHOST.exe memory usage

    Hi, my name is Chris.
I'm having quite a bug problem with a high memory usage in one of the svchost.exe processes(more than 120,00+ memory usage) and if i try to use another program like firefox, the computer crashes.
    I'm using an VAIO VGN-NW310F

    • 2.2GHz Intel Pentium Dual-Core T4400 Processor (1MB L2 Cache; 800MHz Front Side Bus)
    • 4GB (2GBx2) DDR2 800MHz Memory; 8GB Max
    • 320GB 5400RPM Serial ATA Hard Drive; DVD/CD±RW Optical Drive; 802.11 b/g/n Wireless Connectivity

    (Amazon information above.)
    Thank you
    CHRIS

    Chris welcome
Are you running 32bit or 64? in task manager if you right click the offending process there should be an option to create a memory dump. It will probably crash the computer but it will give us the app that is using that much memory on reboot.

You can either zip it and upload to a file sharing service like rapidshare, and for the future change the size in cpl as outlined below

You need to check the instances that are contained in Svchost.exe and stops service that eats up CPU. To do this either use Svchost Process Analyzer - a svchost.exe file checker or Process Explorer. Usually Windows Updater loads CPU.
