Bluescreen randomly happening

Randomly happening as in once every couple days. Usually a DXGmms1.sys error message though I've had a few others. Recently re-installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit onto my hard drive. Running 6 gigs of RAM, ATI 5750hd (maybe a 5780), the Soundblaster USB external sound card, 3 fans set on high for cooling inner case.

G15 Keyboard, Razer Lychesis Mouse are my only 2 Periph's attached aside from the USB External soundcard.

edit: Unable to upload the .dmp files as it continues to tell me that I do not have access.

edit2: A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage
to your computer.

The problem seems to be caused by the following file: ntoskrnl.exe

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen,
restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow
these steps:
Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed.
If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer
for any Windows updates you might need.
If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware
or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.
If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart
your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then
select Safe Mode.

Technical Information:

Edit 3: So I was just looking at the blue screen report and for some reason its saying that the error happened at 7/29/2011 03:41:11 am. This is incorrect it actually happened on the 7/28/2011 around 09:02:00 pm.

Sorry...also just noticed that the error type was wrong as well. The actual blue screen said that it was a DXGMMS1.sys error, not a page_fault_in_nonpaged_area error.

4 days and still havent gotten any advice from anyone. I know that I'm supposed to attach my minidump files on here but its not allowing me access to them at all. Whether its to read them in a debugger, or to attach here. Says access is denied.

Hi -

You did have both correct; the dump file mentions both.

Bugcheck on the lone dump = 0x50 = invalid memory referenced

dxgmms1.sys = part of DirectX
Process = rift.exe

The cause appears related to video or RAM.

Test RAM - RAM - Test with Memtest86+

GPU - Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

See if Driver Verifier flags any 3rd party drivers -- Driver Verifier - sysnative.com - MVP

There was only 1 dump. Have you had BSODs while running other than rift.exe?

EDIT: The dumps must be copied out of \windows\minidump 1st, then zip them up. Easiest method = rerun the jcgriff2 BSOD app; attach zipped folder. Skip perfmon step.

No it only Bsod's while playing Rift. I can play any other game for hours on end with no issue. RAM tested good, GPU is running nominal, same with PSU. I'll run the verifier tonight and get back to you. If its verifier comes back with an all ok, what should I look at next?

edit: Added my minidmp's from the last month.

Hi -

I still see video and RAM as the likely culprits.

rift.exe listed. I'm not a gamer -- maybe there is some problem with this particular game & Windows 7 x64...?
How old is it?
Does it run via CD/ DVD?

BIOS = Sept 2008; check for update -

Game is only about 4 maybe 5 months old and runs directly from hard drive as most do these days. The dates and times on those are wrong as well. I remember looking at the dates in my Blue Screen Viewer and wondering why they were marked for almost 8 hours ahead of the time they happened.

If its video / RAM issue, then am I looking at possible swap outs for new equipment. Also, I think I looked for a BIOS update at one point and didnt find one.

Went to the XFX Website to try and get the new BIOS update but couldn't get it to work for some reason. Followed the downloaded Readme.txt without result. Any idea how I can run it another way? There is a BIN file download and 3 ISO downloads. Tried the 3 ISO, dont know how to do the BIN one.
