Random blue screens when playing, no dump file

I've had this problem of random blue screens for a couple of years already (the computer is about as old) and now I'm trying to really get it solved. It mostly happens when playing (about 95% of the BSODs) but rarely even when doing nothing. It doesnt seem to matter if the game is old or new. Most games just suddenly give BSOD after playing for 10min or couple of hours.

Error messages vary a lot. There's been a lot of irql_not_less_or_equal and system service exception or it can be just a stop message. Sometimes a driver is specified. usbport.sys is propably the most common but there has been many others too. Sometimes it says "dumping physical memory to disk" but if it does, it freezes to 0%. I dont think any dump files have ever been succefully created.

I had Vista 64bit before and month ago I installed win7. I didn't specifically format the drive but chose a clean install.

I have run memtest for about 10 passes with no errors. CPU and GPU temperatures seem to be ok. Testing system drive didnt give errors either.

Oh, and a couple of times the system has had problems starting, it has just freezed at ASUS logo. I think restarting without any usb devices has cured it then (or maybe just trying to restart enough times).

    System specs:
    OS: Windows 7 professional 64bit
Case+PSU: Antec Sonata III (500W) with one extra fan
    Motherboard: Asus P5Q Pro
    CPU: Inter Core 2 quad Q9550 2,83GHz
    GPU: Asus GeForce 9600GT 512MB
    RAM: 4x2GB, Kingston HyperX, CL5 800MHz DDR2 (KHX6400D2K2/4G)
    HD: 4x Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB SATA2 7200RPM 32MB
    1 DVD+-RW drive
Lots of usb devices (keyboard, mouse, usb audio interface, licence storage devices for music software, epson printer..)
F-Secure as a virus protection software.

One of those HDs is for system and the rest for samples of music software.

Hmm, actually now Im not sure about the dump files. Im looking at the files that BSOD Dump & System File Collection app made and one of those looks something that could be it (I dont have any previous experience with dump files).

I scrolled down a bit and found two cases which start with a lot of events saying "The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Ide\IdePort5."
    And after that events like:
    -Application popup: Windows - Delayed Write Failed : Exception Processing Message 0xc000a082 Parameters 0x000007FEFD00718C 0x000007FEFD00718C 0x000007FEFD00718C 0x000007FEFD00718C
-The device, \Device\Harddisk4\DR4, is not ready for access yet.
-An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk4\DR4 during a paging operation.
-The system failed to flush data to the transaction log. Corruption may occur.

Does this give any hint on what to do?

    EDIT:
Hmm, looks like hard disk 4 might my external drive which has not been working too well. It can not be the reason for BSOD though as I just recently took it back to use and the problem has been for a long time. Those errors with ide has nevertheless happened just a short while before at least one blue screen, so I guess they might be related. The actual crashes dont seem to leave too many events there but those things are happening before them.

    EDIT2:
Updated motherboard chipset drivers. Now there are two storage drivers from 2009 but standard dual channel pci ide controller is still from 2006. I'll see if that helped anyway and get back to this.

Today I was able to play for over an hour, but then it just suddenly crashed again. This time no blue screen, just a restart. Event viewer shows no errors.

Help highly appreciated, anything to even try?
