I stand corrected.

You can, on some systems, if you want to, have a BBQ.

But you must use a really small chicken.

Well, I set up the new CPU and cooler, only to find out that the computer turns on now with the green power light on the motherboard, but the display won't come on.

I have changed some things: New graphics card (from 280 to 460) and obviously the new CPU. I'm still looking in on this to see what exactly is the reason the display won't come on. with the 460 card, I had both the DVI cable and HDMI connected (two different monitors). Not sure whats up.

Maybe I should try and switch back the cards. Would resetting the BIOS help any? Any suggestions?

Dusty,

A quick thought - the card is definately seated in the MOBO slot securely? Is the fan on the card spinning?

Regards,
Golden

strange observation: tried turning it on and nothing happened. I cut the power supply's power and turned it back on, and the computer was then able to be turned on (without display). Remember I noted the PSU made an interesting noise close up, but it could just be its fan, as someone else noted. I hope that isn't the problem (fried PSU or something).

I am now just using the DVI connection (single monitor) and yes, the GPU's fan is spinning, all fans are spinning, every light that should be on is on. curious this

the PSU noise continued about 5 seconds after I had forced off power to the PC (front power button)

I made sure the card was secure, but I will check again.

crap now the computer won't turn on at all anymore. GPU is secure, motherboard light is on, noise isn't psu fan, its either the motherboard or something in the PSU. I might have to look around for extra computer parts to see if i can't test whether or not its my PSU or motherboard still giving me problems, cause I can't locate any error on my end (though I'm a brain-butt so I'm not ruling it out)

We'll see if I can't get this thing solved soon enough
