bootable usb with windows xp error

after countless attemps and various iso files my dell insperon 6000 refuses to boot from my sandisk cruzer 2gb, after i had just installed windows 7 from the same brand and same methood. what do i do? ive tried wintoflash and all of its methoods and advanced options and it keeps hanging on the white cursor in the upper left corner of the screen.
on a side note my last attempt resulted in it corrupting my intire os(windows 7) even though i specificly installed it on a 15 gb partition.

Installing Win XP from a USB Pen Drive is very hit & miss.
Best done from CD.
