Problem when trying to load games

I have been trying to play games for a few days now but nothing wll launch I get the error.

The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use command-line sxtrace.exe tool for more detail.

Does anyone have a clue what that means, I have tried reloading windows numerous time but the same error every time. I would really appreciate any help on this at all.

Tx in advance
