Please backup everything important, then read very carefully the tutorial then run Repair Install

Normally with repair install you dont lose anything, though a backup is always a good idea.

Finish with this step and post back with any results.

I followed the steps as shown, I'm fairly sure my windows disc dose not have SP1 with it, at least i dont remeber it having it, and it says nothing on the disc, i followed the steps and got this message.

Windows 7 Professional cannot be upgraded to Windows 7 Professional. You can choose to install a new copy of Windows 7 Professional instead, but this is different from an upgrade, and does not keep your files, settings, and programs. You’ll need to reinstall any programs using the original installation discs or files. To save your files before installing Windows, back them up to an external location such as a CD, DVD, or external hard drive. To install a new copy of Windows 7 Professional, click the Back button in the upper left-hand corner, and select “Custom (advanced)”.
Im guessing this is because i need to uninstall SP1 before running it. Thought i should check with you guys before i do anything tho

    Hi jon0705.

I believe the best thing for you is to backup everything important in usb hard disk, then,

Run a Clean Install Windows 7

After that update your windows using windows updates.

    The updates also includes SP1.

    Then update everything else,graphic card software\driver,network card,sound card,everything.

Finish with this and post back with results.

For the moment install\update only necessary software\drivers.

    For
antivirus download and install Microsoft Security Essentials

If your pc is running just fine and you are able to work and play.

    Then your finish.

    Dont do anything else.
